1. Logo: Your logo is what the client will see, and is what will remembered for years to come. It is vital to choose appropriate custom flash drives that compliment your logo. Choosing a circular USB drive when you have a rectangle company logo may not have the same impact as if you chose a rectangle drive. Maximizing your print space is a really good idea because it allows you to make your logo that much bigger. The easier it is for clients to see your logo, the easier it is for them to remember it. Big named companies have employed this strategy for years and it seems to be working rather well for them, so why not make your logo as big as possible? 2. Color: Color plays a vital role in attracting new clients. Colors like red, yellow, and orange generally attract the human eye while colors like green, blue, and purple soothe the eye. If you have too much of one type, like too many bright colors, your flash drive could look to “busy” and actually turn people away from your drive. Or if it looks too “dull” and contain too many dark colors, people lose interest as it doesn’t attract them to it. What we suggest is to first analyze your Logo or Slogans colors, and then pick a color for a USB drive that would be contrast color. 5. Size: The physical size of the promotional USB drive can also be a big selling factor. Clients generally like smaller USB drive due to the fact that they are a little more convenient, but usually have less artwork space. Bigger flash drives give you the advantage of larger print area, but are a little more cumbersome to carry. Overall the size of the drive should be determined based on your particular needs and your theme.

6. Data Capacity: Most people underestimate just how important the capacity of their drives needs to be. Most settle for 1GB flash drives as they are the easiest to afford and usually do fairly well with them, but for a few upgrading to a 2GB or higher might have been a better choice. Depending on the size and presentation of your promotional material, you may want to spend a little more and upgrade to a bigger flash drive because if you are approaching the maximum data size that your current drives can handle, there is little to no room for clients to store their own information. Let’s face it; clients will usually not carry around your flash drives unless there is something in it for them. Pens, pencils, and other promotional items have a secondary use besides advertising brand names, their usable to the clients. Flash drives become usable when there is extra space for clients to store their own information; so spending a little more and upgrading your drives gives clients the incentive to keep your flash drive, and to use it repeatedly.

7. Cap or Capless: This may seem rather minor, but deciding if you want your drives to have a removable cap or not adds to the overall appeal. If you’re a company that deals with emerging technology, then using a traditional USB drive might not represent your company the best. But if you were to use a USB drive with a swivel cap, you could achieve the reaction you want. Or if you’re more of a traditional company, giving out capped USB drives might suit your intended reaction better. Whether you go with cap or capless USB drives, figuring out your product’s theme first, then choosing an appropriate drive to match would be best.

8. Material: Plastic, wood, leather, and metal are all valuable types of materials, but which one would be best suited for you? Keep in mind that whatever material you eventually choose has different printing options and some types of printing options are only available to certain types of USB drives. We first would start by going to back to your logo and determining what type of printing option would be best (more discussed below). Then after choosing an appropriate color, picking the type of material to compliment your theme, logo, and color would be next. Depending on the type of material, your USB drives can send different messages. For example, if your company is “going green”, then printing on a plastic USB drive may not be the best option.

9. Printing Options: There are several printing options available for custom printed flash drives, and all can make or break your presentation. Laser engraving, heat stamping, screen printing, epoxy dome, and Photo Pro printing are the printing options that Premium USB offers.
