iTwin: Revolutionary New way to Transfer Data
Moving files between computers can be a real pain. You either have to have a personal or business network that requires user names and passwords to access, or depending on the size of files you are moving, a USB flash drive big enough to house all your data. Both of these methods can be rather tedious and time consuming
Well if you are not a fan of the traditional way of moving files or sharing files with co-workers and family, then a new start up company may have the answer you are looking for. A company called iTwin is planning on releasing a new USB device that allows you to transfer files from one computer to another computer anywhere in the world as long as both computers have internet access.
They are calling this new device “Twins” and each twin must be plugged into a PC in order to work. When you first plug in a Twin, a folder will pop up similar to an ordinary flash drive pop up. You can then put all the files you wish to share with the other “twin” in this folder. ITwin advertises that there is not file size limit and to prove their concept, they say that it is possible to put an entire hard drive in the folder!
Once both Twins are connected, you can transfer files back and forth at will using the internet itself as your theoretical cable between PC’s. This means you can move your movies, music, and data files by simply plugging in a Twin, and loading the files in a folder. It is that simple!
Now iTwin did not only foresee a use for this handy little device, but they also foresaw the possibly of hacking and stealing of information between the two twins. Fortunately iTwin took necessary steps to ensure that whatever information you send remains in your hands. The iTwin provides end-to-end data encryption to prevent anyone from gaining unauthorized access to your files. In the event that one Twin gets lost, you can disable the shared files.
Upon initial release on Sep. 1, iTwin says their new device will come in dark grey or green and retail for around $100. This seems like a reasonable price considering the device offers unlimited data capacity, remote access to your files anywhere in the world, encrypted security, and remote disable if an end gets lost.
