Corsair Flash Padlock 2Corsair, an industry leader in flash memory and products, has recently released its brand NEW Padlock 2! This USB flash drive offers its user superb data security while maintaining ease of use and hassle-free operation.

The Corsair Padlock 2 expands on its predecessor in many ways. First this new USB drive more than doubles the data capacity as the original Padlock. The new Padlock 2 offers 8-16GB storage capacity as compared to the original Padlock’s 4GB.

This new Padlock also features a brand new design and although slightly bigger than your standard flash drive, it more than makes up for it. It features a sleek blue and black outer case with removable cap. Several LED lights pinpoint activity on the flash drive and alert the user when the drive is unlocked, locked, or ready to be operated.

The Padlock 2 also features a physical keypad for pass code entry. With a simple stroke of a few buttons, the Padlock2 will unlock and allow the user to access secure files. If the drive is unlocked and 20 seconds has passed without it being plugged into a computer, the USB drive will automatically relock. The Padlock also auto-locks when the drive is removed from the computer ensuring that the files remain under lock and key.

This drive doesn’t only look good on the outside; it is packing impressive features on the inside as well. All files put onto this drive will be physically encrypted with 256-bit AES hardware encryption. This not only means that all files are safe from prying eyes, but it also means that no software is required for use. If an incorrect PIN number is entered 5 times, the USB will lock up and prevent any access for 2 minutes.

The Corsair Padlock 2 also features multi level PIN numbers. A master PIN number may be entered as well as a secondary PIN. If in the event that you forget your secondary PIN number, you may enter the master PIN number and still have access to the USB flash drive.

This feature comes in real handy because the only other way to change a PIN number and regain access to the flash drive is to reset the drive itself. This feature permanently wipes the USB drive of all information including user files.

The only particular “con” to this drive would be that it is more expensive than an ordinary flash drive. Of course if you are rather security conscious and cannot put a price on keeping your data safe, then for around $50, the Corsair Padlock 2 is a viable option.
